About Ed
Ed served on the San Leandro City Council from 2016 to 2020. He helped San Leandro obtain $3 million to build new affordable housing for seniors, veterans and working families. He will create more opportunities for all who wish to call San Leandro home.
Today, Ed represents San Leandro as a Director on the Eden Health District Board. Ed successfully pushed for the District to significantly increase its grant program to over $1 million for nonprofits in San Leandro and nearby cities. These nonprofits support public health, provide housing to the unhoused and address food scarcity.
Ed is also:
- Son of Mexican Immigrants: Ed learned the importance of hard work, improving oneself and making a difference in the community from his parents who immigrated from Mexico and became U.S. citizens. Ed was the first in his family to graduate from college. A fluent Spanish speaker, Ed holds masters degrees in business administration and organizational development.
- Community Volunteer: For 20+ years, Ed has volunteered in the community, helping local nonprofits focused on ending homelessness and ensuring no one in our community experiences hunger. He recently served as President of the Rotary Club of San Leandro and the San Leandro Community Food Pantry.
- Chair of the Ava Community Energy Advisory Committee where Ed promotes greater use of renewable energy.
- Small Business Owner: Ed assists renters and working families find housing and provide financial and organizational consulting services to businesses.
- Proud Democrat: Ed is a life-long Democrat and President of the San Leandro Democratic Club.
